The approach

Make the full scope explicit.

A full stocktake covers all stock included in the agreed site scope. The key is defining that scope clearly: which locations, items and categories are included, what is excluded and how movements will be handled. IH Stocktakers uses that brief to plan a structured count.

01

All agreed areas

Include primary storage, secondary locations and other areas that hold relevant stock.

02

Clear inclusions & exclusions

Clarify ownership, returns, damaged goods and items outside the count.

03

A consistent count plan

Organise the work so areas are covered in a defined sequence with agreed checks.

Before the visit

Prepare for a well-organised count.

Please keep your stock as organised as possible before our visit, grouping similar items and keeping access clear where practical. If your site has any constraints, let us know so we can plan around them.

  • Create a complete list of included storage and display areas.
  • Identify stock held separately or away from the main location.
  • Agree the cut-off, operational arrangements and required output.
Your questions

Planning your full stocktakes.

Does a full stocktake include every item on the premises?

It includes the stock agreed in the scope. Assets, customer-owned goods and other categories need to be explicitly included or excluded.

Can a full count cover several sites?

Yes, multiple locations can be discussed under a coordinated stocktaking plan. Share each location and the required timing.
